Resumo: | The algorithm stands as a privileged entity for scrutinizing the determination of media enunciative practices by Big Tech companies, which function as discursive-ideological subjects, symbolically working to stabilize a range of semantic evidences that naturalize the social framework to which they are subject. In light of Materialist Discourse Analysis, as proposed by scholars such as Michel Pêcheux and Eni Orlandi, we discursively analyze different journalistic-media denominations for the Legislative Bill 2630/2020 regarding the regulation of digital media, taking into account the respective informational technique. In April 2023, Google authorized assertive statements about the Legislative Bill, dubbed the "Fake News Bill," on its main platform. Statements such as "the Fake News Bill may increase confusion about what is true or false in Brazil" and "the Fake News Bill may worsen your internet" were pronounced. This naming process involves the transposition of legal discourse into journalistic discourse through an understanding of sustaining meaning effects. Our goal is to highlight the production of meaning effects for Bill 2630/2020 (in Brazil) in journalistic expressions and interpret which of these support the statements of a Big Tech entity like Google. |
