Cultural contents in Spanish language teaching material

The objective of this investigation was to expose contents related to the culture of the Spanish language in the book Español Sin Fronteras 2. In this regard, we selected four contents of the book in question: the song ojalá que llueva café; an informative text entitled como son los jóvenes españoles de hoy; reading of a literary text referring to a small excerpt from the work escenas de cine mudo; and, finally, a text on the exotic places in South America. In order to obtain theoretical and practical foundations, this research showed contributions of authors such as Deardorff, Vera Hanna and Fantini. The subjects of the literature review discuss about language teaching, culture, interculturalism, communicative competence and intercultural communicative competence. We concluded with this research that the mentioned book contains linguistic knowledge combined with cultural content of the target language. We suppose that the student approach to cultural content of the target language in the mentioned book may contribute to the development of intercultural communicative competence.
