The style registration in Canaã: a reflection about historiography and the tag “Pré-modernista”

This paper aims to analyze Canaã´s style construction for showing that its belonged to the tag “Pré-modernismo” is a limitation of the novels possibilities. When it is submitted as a period reflex, which comprise the two decades of XX century, the book stylistic structure is highlighted by the reminisces from Naturalism and Symbolism; other times, the book is associated as a Modernism sign, confirming the interval characteristic of this period, that is not a defined literary tag. However, if it was analyzed correctly, the book Canaã should show that it is far from this conventionalization, developing a own style, that shows how the literary historiography is weak, organized in a nonmovie patterns, whose methodology presuppose is based in a evaluative perspective of a book continuum, that used the fiction texts only by coadunation with the dominant convention, ignoring that these text can be approached by the differentiation and rupture with the current patterns.
