Resumo: The work written by Henri Acselrad, Gustavo das Neves Bezerra and Cecília Campellodo Amaral Mello can be considered a doctrinal precursor in the debate on the theme in Brazil. Inits content, the book “What is Environmental Justice” exposes the historical formulation of themovement, its conceptual developments, as well as the mechanisms by which an environmentalinjustice is perpetuated. Starting from reading the work in question, the review aims to elucidatethese points for readers interested in the theme, as well as to discuss the need to include thediscussion on the movement for Environmental Justice to the debate on sustainable development,discussing their main contributions to the theme.
