Resumo: Since the 1970s, a set of economic, political and ideological transformations have occurred, which have contributed, on the one hand, to the growth of world wealth, and on the other hand, to the increase in environmental pressures and social inequality. In this context, this article seeks to understand how these changes, denominated neoliberalism, contributed to deepen environmental problems, as well as to make their effective solutions unfeasible. It is considered that thinking about the environmental issue means reflecting on the relationship between the social being and nature, in other words, it reflects social issues.

En este contexto, este artículo busca comprender cómo estos cambios, llamados neoliberalismo, contribuyeron a profundizar los problemas ambientales, así como a hacer que sus soluciones efectivas sean inviables. Se considera que pensar en el tema ambiental significa reflexionar sobre la relación entre el ser social y la naturaleza, en otras palabras, refleja los problemas sociales.Desde a década de 70, ocorreram um conjunto de transformações econômicas, politicas e ideológica que contribuíram, por um lado, com o crescimento da riqueza mundial, e por outro lado, com o aumento das pressões ambientais e da desigualdade social. Nesse contexto, o presente artigo busca compreender como essas mudanças, denominada de neoliberalismo, contribuíram para aprofundar os problemas ambientais, bem como inviabilizar suas soluções efetivas.
