Social network analysis in the co-authoring network mediation process: assessment of the faculty dynamics collaboration

Introduction: The co-authorship networks of scientific production in graduate programs shows the scientific collaborations among its members. The study of these networks through Social Networks Analysis (SNA) contribute to realign and optimize the research efforts by presenting its structure and dynamics. Objective: It analyzes scientific collaboration through co-authoring networks formed among the professors of the Graduate Program in Information Science of the Federal University of Paraíba (PPGCI / UFPB). Methodology: It uses the Social Network Analysis (SNA) method. The research is characterized as quantitative and descriptive. The statistical universe is made up of the PPGCI / UFPB faculty scientific productions referring to the 2011-2013 triennium as stated in its Lattes Curricula. Results: The delineated network presented low density. It was verified that there is a prominence of some actors with regard to co-authorship, as indicated by the metrics obtained. Conclusion: The results found provide support for the improvement of the graduate program studied.
