Information and Communication technologies on teenagers everyday: focus on behavior and on digital and information competence of 'Google Generation'

Resumo: Introduction: Individuals born from the 1990’s to accompany technological change course and learn how to use the technological resources that have access before they even learn to read or write. In this sense, the literature considers the digital natives or even 'Google generation'. However, it has been questioned their skills to identify information needs and seeking and use of information in the most varied environments digital information available on the Web. Objectives: To characterize the behavior of information seeking in everyday life of a group of teenage students from a private school in Marilia, Sao Paulo. Methodology: A qualitative study with 30 adolescent students of a private school in Marilia, Sao Paulo. Data collection was accomplished at first by means of a questionnaire, based on the research of Hughes-Hussell and August (2007), containing questions about age, gender, hobbies and everyday tasks, and issues the use of computers and the internet, which allowed determination of the social, economic and cultural rights of respondents. Results: have focused on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to search access and use information. It was suggested that the "Brotherhood of Informatics', an incentive for students to (re) learn the tools of digital communication and make appropriate use of the resources, products and services on the web to search and effective use of information compatible with their needs and that is tied to the ethical and responsible use of technology environments. Conclusions: The results arising from this study will continue through the continuation of the Confraternity of Computing, which became a "thermometer" on the use of digital information environments and the attitude of the students in front of Information and Communication Technologies in the College “Cristo Rei”.

Introducción: Las personas nacidas a partir de la década de 1990 acompañan los cambios tecnológicos de manera natural y aprenden a utilizar los recursos tecnológicos que tienen acceso antes mismo de que aprendan a leer y escribir. En este sentido, la literatura los considera como los nativos digitales o incluso "generación Google". Sin embargo, se ha cuestionado su capacidad para identificar las necesidades informacionales y para la búsqueda y uso de la información frente a los más diversos ambientes informacionales digitales disponibles en la Web. Objetivos: Caracterizar el comportamiento de búsqueda de información en la vida cotidiana de un grupo de estudiantes adolescentes de una escuela privada en Marília, Sao Paulo. Metodología: Estudio cualitativo con 30 estudiantes adolescentes de una escuela privada en Marília, Sao Paulo. La recolección de datos se realizó, en primer tiempo, por medio de un cuestionario, basado en la investigación de Hughes-Hussell y Agosto (2007), que contiene preguntas sobre la edad, el género, las tareas y hobbies diarios, además de las cuestiones relacionadas con el uso de las computadoras y del internet, lo que permitió la determinación de características sociales, económicas y culturales de los encuestados. Resultados: Los resultados se han centrado en el uso de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) para la búsqueda, el acceso y el uso de la información. Se sugirió la creación de la "Hermandad de la Informática", un incentivo para que los estudiantes puedan a (re) aprender las herramientas de la comunicación digital y hacer un uso adecuado de los recursos, los productos y los servicios en la web para la búsqueda y el uso efectivo de la información compatible con sus necesidades y que esté ligado al uso ético y responsable de los ambientes tecnológicos. Conclusiones: Los resultados derivados de este estudio continuarán por medio de la continuación de la “Hermandad de la Informática”, que se convirtió en un "termómetro" sobre la utilización de los ambientes informacionales digitales y la actitud de los alumnos frente a las Tecnologías de Información y la Comunicación en el Colegio Cristo Rey.Introdução: Os indivíduos nascidos a partir da década de 1990 acompanham a evolução tecnológica naturalmente e aprendem a utilizar os recursos tecnológicos que têm acesso antes mesmo de aprenderem a ler ou a escrever. Nesse sentido, a literatura os considera nativos digitais ou mesmo ‘geração Google’. Contudo, tem-se questionado as suas competências para a identificação de necessidades informacionais e para a busca e o uso de informação diante dos mais diversos ambientes informacionais digitais disponíveis na Web. Objetivos: Caracterizar o comportamento de busca de informação no cotidiano de um grupo de estudantes adolescentes de uma escola particular de Marília, São Paulo. Metodologia: Pesquisa qualitativa com 30 estudantes adolescentes de uma escola particular de Marília, São Paulo. A coleta de dados foi realizada, em um primeiro momento, por meio da aplicação de um questionário, baseado na pesquisa de Hughes-Hussell e Agosto (2007), contendo perguntas referentes à idade, sexo, tarefas e hobbies cotidianos, além de questões relacionadas à utilização do computador e da internet, o que possibilitou a determinação de características sociais, econômicas e culturais dos entrevistados. Resultados: Enfocaram o uso das Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC) para a busca, o acesso e o uso de informação.
