Professional formation: librarian’s role as an Information Architect

Objective: Considering the vertiginous growth of information production, the attributions of professionals who work in the organization and provision of information are constantly changing. Thus, we seek to reflect on the training of professional Librarians in this scenario, especially with regard to their role as an Information Architect. Methodology: We searched the specialized literature for the new roles played by librarians, especially in the field of Information Architecture. For this purpose, we consulted the existing bibliography on the subject, in order to identify what he had written, especially in relation to the Pedagogical Political Project, curricular matrix and subject syllabus of the on-site Bachelor's Degree Courses in Library Science in the Northeast Region, seeking to highlight the specific training for the Information Architecture area. Results: We verified the absence of specific training for Information Architecture in practically half of the face-to-face librarianship courses in the Northeast region. Conclusions: We identified through the literature that, due to the nature of their object of work, the librarian, in theory, to act as an Information Architect, still lacks specific training in the respective undergraduate courses analyzed in the Northeast region.
