Introduction: With the advent of the second scientific revolution of the 20th century, CI was born with characteristics based on interdisciplinarity, relationship with information and communication technologies, active participation in the evolution of the Information Society, with a strong social and human dimension. Although it is considered an interdisciplinary Science, studies of the area indicate that many works have not reached this level of interaction with other disciplines, remaining in the multidisciplinarity. Objectives:Reflect on the concept of multidisciplinarity and its relationship with Information Science (CI). Methodology: The research has an exploratory, qualitative and bibliographic character. The dissertations and theses of the research line "Management, Mediation and Use of Information" of the StrictoSensu Post-Graduation Program in Information Science of the UNESP, Campus de Marília, were defended and published by means of the subject analysis method. 2013 to 2016, the CAPES four-year evaluation period. Results: It was identified which disciplines and subdisciplines interacted with the CI in these documents and the relation of the formation of these researchers. Conclusions: Although IC interacts with several disciplines and subdisciplines, it still maintains its greater interaction with the disciplines that were the cradle of its creation, such as Archivology and Librarianship.
