Usability analysis in the homepages of higher education institutions in Montes Claros / MG

Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the usability of the homepages of higher education institutions located in the city of Montes Claros/MG (Brazil). Methodology: The analysis was carried out in nine Higher Education institutions, including universities, university centers and colleges, through exploratory research, using a checklist of general usability of homepage, with forty-two questions, to measure whether or not the institutions meet the criteria. Results: It was found that none of the institutions analyzed meet the totality of the proposed requirements. The Higher Education institution closest to usability adequacy scored 62% in the checklist, while the one that is furthest to usability adequacy has scored 33%. Conclusions: It was found that there were various problems of usability, such as the absence of information regarding the location, communication channels and use of other languages, which hinder the dissemination of information pertinent to the educational environments studied, demonstrating the possibility of improvements of these organizations over the issues analyzed.

Metodología: El análisis se llevó a cabo en nueve instituciones de educación superior, incluyendo universidades, centros universitarios y facultades a través de investigaciones exploratorias por medio de un checklist de usabilidad general de la página de inicio, con cuarenta y dos preguntas, cuyas respuestas fueron si cumplían o no con el tema analizado. Resultados: Se constató que ninguna de las instituciones analizadas cumple con todos los requisitos propuestos. La Institución de Educación Superior, con el 62% de atención al checklist, es la más cercana a las adecuaciones de usabilidad, mientras que la que está menos cerca tiene un porcentaje del 33%. Conclusiones: Se constató que existen diversos problemas de usabilidad como la falta de información referente a la ubicación, a los canales de comunicación y al uso de otros idiomas que dificultan la difusión de información pertinente a los ambientes educativos estudiados, demostrando la posibilidad de mejoras de estas organizaciones en las preguntas analizadas.Objetivo: Avaliar a usabilidade das homepages das instituições de ensino superior localizadas na cidade de Montes Claros/MG. Metodologia: A análise foi realizada em nove instituições de ensino superior, abrangendo universidades, centros universitários e faculdades, através de pesquisa exploratória, por meio de checklist de usabilidade geral de homepage, com quarenta e duas questões, cujas respostas eram se atendiam ou não ao quesito analisado. Resultados: Constatou-se que nenhuma das instituições analisadas atendem a totalidade dos requisitos propostos. A Instituição de Ensino Superior, com 62% de atendimento ao checklist, é a que mais se aproxima das adequações de usabilidade enquanto a que menos se aproxima possui um percentual de 33%.
