Resumo: Introduction: The article questions the relations between archives and memory starting from archival functions of document evaluation. Objective: To use contemporary memory studies to reflect on the act of evaluating documents and their respective assessment of "values" for permanent custody. Methodology: bibliographic analysis and systematization of concepts of "sociotransmitters", forgetfulness, multidirectional memory and memorial governance. Results: the paper proposes an extention of the relations between memory, heritage and archives, overcoming the idea of archive just as a “place of memory” to accommodate the archival functions, its concepts, terms and theories. Conclusions: the concepts of "multidirectional memory", "memorial governance", and the document evaluation activity are approximated.

Metodología: análisis bibliográfico y sistematiza los conceptos de “sociotransmisores”, olvido, memoria multidireccional y governanza memorial, todos vinculados al objetivo central. Resultados: propone una ampliación de las relaciones entre la memoria, el patrimonio y los archivos, superando la idea del archivo sólo como un “lugar de memoria” para abarcar las funciones archivísticas, sus conceptos, términos y teorías. Conclusiones: se propone una aproximación entre la concepción de “memoria multidireccional”, “governanza memorial” y la atividad de evaluación documental.Introdução: O artigo problematiza a relação entre arquivos e memória a partir da função arquivística da avaliação de documentos Objetivo: Recorrer aos estudos contemporâneos da memória para refletir sobre o ato de avaliar documentos e sua respectiva aferição de “valores” para guarda permanente. Resultados: propõe uma ampliação das relações entre memória, patrimônio e arquivos, superando a ideia do arquivo apenas como um “lugar de memória” para abranger as funções arquivísticas, seus conceitos, termos e teorias.
