Contents and forms of educating Santa Catarina children (1910-1935): educational programs, methods, didactic works and disciplinary codes

Resumo: This study aimed to analyze contents and forms of educating Santa Catarina children who attended public primary schools – school groups and isolated schools, between 1910 and 1935, using as elements the teaching programs, disciplinary codes, didactic texts and the indications of analytic methods for reading and writing. The sources include: the teaching program used in public schools from 1911 to 1914, the bylaws for school groups, regulations of public instruction for the period 1911-1914, legislative documents and reports from political and educational directors. The methodology sought to respond the questions: What material and symbolic elements appear concerning the education of children? How can we consider the multiplicity of childhoods that inhabited the time and space of primary schools?

How can we consider the multiplicity of childhoods that inhabited the time and space of primary schools? El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los contenidos y las formas para educar a los niños de Santa Catarina que frecuentaban las escuelas públicas primarias – grupos escolares y escuelas aisladas – entre los años de 1910 y 1935, tomando como elementos los programas de enseñanza, el código disciplinario, las obras didácticas y la indicación del método analítico de lectura y escritura. Entre las fuentes, se destacan el Programa de enseñanza de las escuelas públicas de los años de 1911/1914, el Reglamento Interno de los grupos escolares, los Reglamentos de la Instrucción Pública de 1911/1914, documentos de legislación, informes de dirigentes políticos y educacionales. La metodología buscó responder a las siguientes preguntas: ¿Qué elementos materiales y simbólicos comparecían para la educabilidad de los niños? ¿Cómo pensar la multiplicidad de los niños que habitaban el tiempo y el espacio de la escuela primaria? O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar conteúdos e formas para educar a infância catarinense que frequentava as escolas públicas primárias – grupos escolares e escolas isoladas – entre os anos de 1910 e 1935, tomando como elementos os programas de ensino, o código disciplinar, as obras didáticas e a indicação do método analítico de leitura e escrita. Dentre as fontes, destacam-se o Programa de ensino das escolas públicas dos anos de 1911/1914, o Regimento Interno dos grupos escolares, os Regulamentos da Instrução Pública de 1911/1914, documentos de legislação, relatórios de dirigentes políticos e educacionais. A metodologia procurou responder às seguintes perguntas: Que elementos materiais e simbólicos compareciam para a educabilidade da infância?
