Resumo: | Our goal in this paper is to propose an interpretation different from that which usually has been given on the subject ‘mathematics or simultaneous mathematics’, namely, that there would be different mathematics: the mathematics of the day-to-day, school mathematics, academic mathematics etc. This assertion is often made from reflections of the mature philosophy of Ludwig Wittgenstein. Thus, we intend to develop this work as follow: we will discuss some general issues in the first phase of Wittgenstein's thought. These issues help to understand the discussion that will follow; we will explain how is based the asserting of the existence of several mathematics, according to our understanding, and discussing concepts of Wittgenstein – with special attention to the concept of family resemblances – we propose our interpretation on the theme ‘mathematics or simultaneous mathematics’. |

Nosso objetivo no presente trabalho é propor uma interpretação diferente da que comumente vem sendo dada sobre o tema ‘matemática ou matemáticas’, a saber, de que haveria diferentes matemáticas: a matemática do dia a dia, a matemática escolar, a matemática acadêmica etc. Tal afirmação muitas vezes é feita pelas reflexões da filosofia madura de Ludwig Wittgenstein. Assim, pretendemos desenvolver este trabalho da seguinte forma: discutiremos em linhas gerais algumas questões presentes na primeira fase do pensamento de Wittgenstein que atuam como pano de fundo e ajudam a compreender a discussão que se seguirá; explicitaremos como está fundamentada a afirmação da existência de várias matemáticas, segundo nossa compreensão, e, discutindo alguns conceitos de Wittgenstein, com especial atenção para o conceito de semelhanças de família, proporemos nossa interpretação sobre o tema ‘matemática ou matemáticas’.
