ANALYSIS OF POSSIBLE ARITHMETIC PROGRESSION PROBLEMS IN NEW HIGH SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS: A VIEW VIA PROBLEM SOLVING

Resumo: The objective of this study is to seek and analyze Mathematics situations, which can become problems, present in New High School textbooks, which allow working on the Progression content Arithmetic. To this end, we used documentary research to search for and select textbooks. Thus, these books were qualitatively analyzed in their units that deal with Arithmetic Progression. In total, four situations were found in the introduction of the content. However, only two were eligible as possible problems. These were discussed in light of the literature and presented to be worked on as a starting point. Our results reveal that to work with Arithmetic Progression through Problem Solving, prior knowledge of sequence and functions may be necessary. The problems we considered had the characteristic of being contextualized. In this way, the textbook is a valuable material that can help teachers who want to work with Problem Solving.

In this way, the textbook is a valuable material that can help teachers who want to work with Problem Solving.El objetivo de este estudio es buscar y analizar situaciones matemáticas, que pueden convertirse en problemas, presentes en los libros de texto de la Nueva Secundaria, que permitan trabajar el contenido de Progresión. Aritmética. Para ello, utilizamos la investigación documental para buscar y seleccionar libros de texto. Así­, estos libros fueron analizados cualitativamente en sus unidades que tratan de Progresión Aritmética. En total se encontraron cuatro situaciones en la introducción del contenido. Sin embargo, sólo dos fueron elegibles como posibles problemas. Estos fueron discutidos a la luz de la literatura y presentados para ser trabajados como punto de partida. Nuestros resultados revelan que para trabajar con la progresión aritmética mediante la resolución de problemas, puede ser necesario un conocimiento previo de secuencias y funciones. Los problemas que consideramos tení­an la caracterí­stica de estar contextualizados. De esta manera, el libro de texto es un material valioso que puede ayudar a los profesores que quieran trabajar con la Resolución de Problemas.O objetivo deste estudo é buscar e analisar situações de Matemática, que podem se tornar problemas, presentes em livros didáticos do Novo Ensino Médio, que permitam trabalhar o conteúdo de Progressão Aritmética. Para tal, nos apropriamos da pesquisa documental para buscar e selecionar os livros didáticos. Assim, estes livros foram analisados qualitativamente em suas unidades que tratam da Progressão Aritmética. Ao todo, quatro situações foram encontradas na introdução do conteúdo. Contudo, apenas duas foram elegí­veis como possí­veis problemas. Estas foram discutidas í  luz da literatura e apresentadas para serem trabalhadas como ponto de partida. Nossos resultados revelam que para se trabalhar com Progressão Aritmética por meio da Resolução de Problemas, podem ser necessários conhecimentos prévios de sequência e funções. Os problemas por nós considerados tinham a caracterí­stica de ser contextualizados.
