Intericonicity: from the repetitions of images to the repetitions of discourses on images

Resumo: Intericonicity developed by Jean-Jacques Courtine, known as the father of discursive memory within the context of French Discourse Analysis, in his 2003-2011 course Anthropologie et histoire des images, at the Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3, is discussed. The glide of the study of language materiality towards the materiality of the image is underscored, evidencing its common point, or rather, repetition. The characteristics of repetition within the image are later seen in their intericonicity movements which trigger a mental archive of images as repetitions forms of the original image. The above is exemplified by a 1940 picture called As Gêmeas by the Brazilian painter Alberto Guignard, to reveal a framework of genealogies of image repetitions and possible discourses. The locus of historicity is emphasized for the discursive functioning of image repetition and its discourses.

The locus of historicity is emphasized for the discursive functioning of image repetition and its discourses.Proponho neste artigo discutir a noção de intericonicidade desenvolvida por Jean-Jacques Courtine, conhecido como o pai da memória discursiva no cenário da Análise do Discurso Francesa, no período de 2003 a 2011, em seu curso Anthropologie et histoire des images na Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3. Nesse contexto, destaco o deslizamento do estudo da materialidade da língua para a materialidade da imagem, colocando em evidência seu ponto comum: a repetição. Para tanto, passo do caráter da repetição no interior de uma imagem para, depois, considerá-la em seus movimentos de intericonicidade, que fazem deflagrar um arquivo mental de imagens como formas de repetição de uma imagem primeira. Para exemplificar tais questões, apoio-me na tela de 1940 do pintor brasileiro Alberto Guignard, intitulada As Gêmeas, a fim de mostrar um quadro de genealogia da repetição das imagens e de discursos possíveis.
