Resumo: In this paper the users’ needs and official information on the public transport system of Maringá were compared. In this confront, it was observed that the public transport system of Maringá lacks planning based on scientific work, with research preparation of the population’s mobility within the urban area, mainly of what concerns origin - destination and flow frequency. Thinking of the need to approach urban managing office and users, we are developing a project to provide the interaction between them. The project consists of organizing a Geographical Information System for the public transport of Maringá with a double function: users' communication improvement and data gathering to map the information on origin - destination of journeys

Foi percebido que falta ao Sistema de Transporte Coletivo de Maringá um planejamento baseado em trabalho científico, com a elaboração de pesquisas sobre a mobilidade da população dentro do espaço urbano, principalmente no que diz respeito à origem - destino e freqüência de fluxo.
