Obstacles and potentialities of the university-company interaction from the perspective of Professors from the State University of Maringá

Resumo: The lack of encouragement by the State to set up and continue activities related to research and development must be viewed with concern by the academic and civil society, since it is of fundamental importance that the country invest in innovation to guarantee its space in the international market. In this sense, by knowing that it is of fundamental importance that the country invest in innovation to guarantee its space in the international market, universities and companies can collaborate to create, among other things, a fundraising channel to be directed to R&D projects, which would not be contemplated, partially or in full, by public resources dedicated to scientific activity. Considering these and other characteristics of the University-Company interaction, this study seeks to identify, through a questionnaire applied to teachers of the State University of Maringá, the barriers and potentialities related to the interactions between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and companies, considering the point of view of HEIs. Among the results of the questionnaire, we found that most of the teachers of the State University of Maringá did not carry out activities that involved provision of services in the periods from 2006 to 2010 and/or from 2011 to 2015. In addition, we identified the existence of various barriers that prevents or hinder the establishment of partnerships between university and firms, among them bureaucracy. Likewise, were found potentialities that should act as promoters of the interaction between the two institutions, such as the improvement in the training of students and the opportunity for teachers to apply their knowledge in concrete situations faced by the firms.

Nesse sentido, sabendo que é de fundamental importância que o país invista em inovação para garantir seu espaço no mercado internacional, universidades e empresas podem colaborar para criar, entre outras coisas, um canal de captação de recursos a serem direcionados a projetos de P&D, que outrora não seriam contemplados, parcial ou integralmente, por recursos públicos voltados à atividade científica. Considerando essas e outras características da interação Universidade-Empresa, este estudo busca identificar, por meio de um questionário aplicado a docentes da Universidade Estadual de Maringá, as barreiras e potencialidades relacionadas às interações entre Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) e empresas, do ponto de vista das IES. Dentre os resultados do questionário, verificou-se que a maior parte dos docentes da Universidade Estadual de Maringá não realizaram atividades que envolvessem prestação de serviços nos períodos de 2006 a 2010 e/ou 2011 a 2015. Além disso, identificou-se a existência de diversas barreiras que impedem ou dificultam o estabelecimento de parcerias entre universidade e empresa, entre elas, a burocracia.
