Resumo: This article analyses interviews with teachers and students of English language literature in a Letras course. The interviews aimed at an investigation of teachers’ and students’ apparent dissatisfaction with the results of the disciplines. The analysis is based on the discourse and text theories of Michel Foucault and Roland Barthes, on the post-colonial literary criticism and on the power and language studies of Alastair Pennycook. This research is part of a pilot study for a doctorate thesis in progress.
