Resumo: | The no-tillage system in savannah soil depends on soil management that keeps higher yield and cultural residues on surface. The aim of this work was to study the effect of corn and soybean, cropped in summer, and the use of legumes, grasses and fallow, in winter, on some soil characteristics under no tillage system and also on corn yield in the following summer crop. The rotation soybean – millet, soybean – fallow and, corn – velvet bean provided large amounts of crop residues. The rotation corn-velvet bean provided higher corn grain yield. N was the more exported nutrient and K was the nutrient that more returned to soil. There was not increment on organic matter even in the 0 to 0.10m layer. |

Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito das culturas de soja e milho conduzidas no verão e o uso de leguminosas, gramíneas e pousio, no inverno, sobre atributos de um solo de cerrado manejado para implantação do plantio direto e sobre a produção da cultura do milho, conduzida no verão subseqüente. As seqüências soja – milheto, soja – pousio e milho – mucuna proporcionaram as maiores produtividades de palhada. A maior produtividade de grãos de milho ocorreu na sequência milho-mucuna. A maior exportação ocorreu com o N e o maior retorno ao solo com o K.
