Resumo: This work aimed to evaluate, under greenhouse conditions, the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on the growth of Acacia mangium, Sesbania virgata and Eucalyptus camaldulensis. The behavior of these plant species inoculated or not with AMF, cultivated in single and intercropping systems, in the field in an area of clay extraction, was also evaluated. Under greenhouse conditions, at 75 days of sown, the AMF inoculation increased the height of A. mangium and S. virgata in 21.5 and 6.5%, respectively. The AMF inoculation also increased the shoot dry mass of A. mangium and S. virgata by 50 and 52%, respectively. Under field conditions, the plants grown in the clay extraction area presented high survivor rate (> 80%) and fast growth. At 600 days of planting (DAP), A. mangium and E. camaldulensis reached 7 m in height, while S. virgata had 3.5 m. The effects of AMF inoculation on plant growth occurred markedly in A. mangium, between 45 and 220 DAP. Until the date that the experiment was harvested (600 DAP), no effect of the intercropping system was observed on plant growth.
