Resumo: The soybean meal is an important product of the Brazilian agribusiness. One of the steps of the meal production process is drying, which is a large energy consumer. The meal drying study to reduce the energy consumption is vital to the competitivity of this product. Thus, the aim of this work is to develop a mathematic modeling, into a stationary regimen of a drying soybean meal process, to evaluate the preliminar energetic consumption and the process efficiency. The model is based on mass and energy balance and heat transfer equations. The validity of the model is confirmed with operational data from an indirect rotary dryer used by the Cooperativa Agrícola Mourãoense (Mourãoense Agricultural Cooperative). The final results show that the best steam temperature is around 120ºC

Uma das etapas do processo de produção do farelo é a secagem, a qual é grande consumidora de energia. O estudo da secagem do farelo visando a redução do consumo de energia é vital para a competitividade deste produto. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho é desenvolver um modelo matemático, em regime estacionário, do processo de secagem do farelo de soja a fim de avaliar o consumo energético preliminar e a eficiência do processo. O modelo é baseado em balanços de massa e de energia e em equações de transferência de calor. A validação do modelo é confirmada a partir de dados operacionais de um secador rotativo de contato indireto utilizado na indústria da Cooperativa Agrícola Mourãoense (Coamo).
