Resumo: The present work used the method of degree-days in order to evaluate the energy performance of a single-family construction by showing that, in conceiving an architectural project, the materials used in the construction and size of the openings must always be taken in consideration. The energy performance was calculated by means of the degree-days model, considering the localization of the single-family residence in the cities of Cascavel, Curitiba, Foz do Iguaçu and Londrina. To that end, climatic data from those localities were obtained. Next, the total pre-established single-family construction heat loss coefficient was obtained, thereby evaluating the conditions of thermal comfort and energy performance of the building. It was observed that degree-days of heating in winter are 77.78 for Curitiba and 0.00 for Foz do Iguaçu, at the temperature base of 14°C. Degree-days of cooling are 30.17 in winter. The energy consumed in Foz do Iguaçu to heat the residence is 2367.88 kWh annually, and the annual consumption of energy to heat the residence in Curitiba is 6277.02 kWh, for ITA = 2 and 20% opening, with double pane.

O desempenho energético foi obtido por meio do modelo de graus-dia, considerando-se a localização da residência unifamiliar nas cidades de Cascavel, Curitiba, Foz do Iguaçu e Londrina. Para isso, foram obtidos os dados climáticos dessas localidades e, em um segundo momento, obteve-se o coeficiente total de perda de calor na edificação unifamiliar preestabelecida, avaliando-se, assim, as condições de conforto térmico e o desempenho energético da edificação. Observou-se que graus-dia de aquecimento, no inverno, são de 77,78 para Curitiba e de 0,00 para Foz do Iguaçu, na temperatura-base de 14°C, e que os graus-dia de resfriamento são de 30,17 no inverno.
