Resumo: The present study aims to improve the knowledge on the squares in Maringá city through the research of three elements: furniture (benches, illumination, pavement), typology and their insertion in the urban plot. All the ninety-nine squares have been analyzed and it was concluded that, although Maringá has been planned, the aspects observed in this study do not correspond to the standard planning initially idealized
