Resumo: One experiment was conducted with Hyline W-36 laying hens to determine the influence of feed withdrawal on calcium and phosphorus plasma and eggshell quality. Blood was collected on days 24, 48, 72 and 96h at oviposition and 21h post-oviposition. On the control group, plasma phosphorus was significantly increased from oviposition to 21h post-oviposition. On day two, the group in feed restriction showed higher phosphorus levels 21h post-oviposition. On day 3 and 4, all the values from plasma phosphorus were lower at oviposition and 21h post-oviposition when hens were in feed withdraw. Plasma calcium was not affected during the egg formation in the hens receiving feed “ad libitum”. However, plasma calcium was declined from day 2 to 4 when hens were in feed withdraw. The egg specific gravity and eggshell weight were significantly decreased for hens receiving no feed after day 2.
