Resumo: The aim of this study was to analyse the effect of a swimming suit (fastswim) on technical, psychological and physiological parameters in comparison to a conventional swimming suit (lycra). Eight swiming athletes (between 18 and 25 years-old) were assessed for: mean speed, stroke length, stroke frequency, efficiency index, reported perceived exertion, heart rate and blood lactate. Descriptive (median and interquartile range) and inferential statistics (Wilcoxon test) were applied using a significance level of 5%. During the maximal test wearing the fastswim, subjects presented a 2% higher performance. In addition, efficiency index and reported perceived exertion increased. In sub-maximal intensity, stroke frequency and reported perceived exertion were reduced, while the length of the stroke and the efficiency index were increased. No significant differences were found in the physiological parameters. It was concluded a positive effect of the swimming suit on performance for maximal and sub-maximal speeds..

Oito atletas de natação de idades entre 18 e 25 anos tiveram mensurados: velocidade média, comprimento de braçada, frequência de braçada, índice de nado, percepção subjetiva de esforço, frequência cardíaca e concentração de lactato sanguíneo. Utilizou-se estatística descritiva (mediana e intervalo interquartil) e inferencial (teste de Wilcoxon) com significância a pDepartment of Physical Education - State University of Maringá (UEM), Maringá-PR, Brazil2010-12-05info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionExperimental researchPesquisa Experimentalapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/9120Journal of Physical Education; Vol 21 No 4 (2010); 611-616Journal of Physical Education; Vol. 21 Núm. 4 (2010); 611-616Journal of Physical Education; v. 21 n. 4 (2010); 611-6162448-2455reponame:Journal of Physical Education (Maringá)instname:Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)instacron:UEMporhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/9120/6765Santos, Karini Borges dosBento, Paulo Cesar BarauceSouza, Bruna Lutgens deRodacki, André Luiz Félixinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2023-01-10T15:37:55Zoai:periodicos.uem.br/ojs:article/9120Revistahttp://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/indexPUBhttps://old.scielo.br/oai/scielo-oai.php||revdef@uem.br2448-24552448-2455opendoar:2023-01-10T15:37:55Journal of Physical Education (Maringá) - Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)false
