Resumo: The objective of this study was to investigate the association between nutritional status and motor performance of children. Methods: The study included 287 children, 151 boys and 136 girls aged between 5 and 10 years ( = 8.1+1.7 SD) with nutritional status recommended for age (NCHS, 2002; ALVES, 2008). We evaluated the motor performance through the Test of Gross Motor Development - Second Edition - TGMD-2 (Ulrich, 2000). Results: Despite of the nutritional status a higher number of girls exhibited a poor motor performance compared to the boys. Large obese, obese and with previous poor nutrition showed higher prevalence of poor motor performance. Conclusion: The nutritional status was associated with performance of motor skills in the investigated children.

Department of Physical Education - State University of Maringá (UEM), Maringá-PR, Brazil2012-07-25info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionCorrelation ResearchCorrelacional Researchapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/13002Journal of Physical Education; Vol 23 No 2 (2012); 175-182Journal of Physical Education; Vol. 23 Núm. 2 (2012); 175-182Journal of Physical Education; v. 23 n. 2 (2012); 175-1822448-2455reponame:Journal of Physical Education (Maringá)instname:Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)instacron:UEMporhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/13002/9652Marramarco, Cesare AugustoKrebs, Ruy JornadaValentini, Nádia CristinaRamalho, Maria Helena da SilvaSantos, João Otacílio Libardoni dosNobre, Glauber Carvalhoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2023-01-10T15:38:09Zoai:periodicos.uem.br/ojs:article/13002Revistahttp://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/indexPUBhttps://old.scielo.br/oai/scielo-oai.php||revdef@uem.br2448-24552448-2455opendoar:2023-01-10T15:38:09Journal of Physical Education (Maringá) - Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)false
