Resumo: This paper proposes to examine some symbolic features in the book The Lord of theRings, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, who brings some references to aspects of everyday life inmedieval times. First of all, we want to reflect on the implementation of The lord of the rings inthe lessons of history, within theoretical and practical, with a view to pedagogical practice thatenables students to construct historical knowledge. The idea of exploring this aspect of the workcame about after observing that the author makes use of various topics related to the MiddleAges  to  recreate  his  fantasy  world,  a  land  of  people, language,  history  and  geographythemselves.

Antes de tudo, queremos refletir sobre a aplicação de Osenhor dos anéis nas aulas de História, no âmbito teórico e prático, com vistas a uma práticapedagógica que possibilite aos alunos a construção do conhecimento histórico.
