Resumo: In Brazil, the term Assistive Technology was defined in 2006 by the Technical Assistance Committee. From this definition, this work aimed to investigate how the concept of Assistive Technology was appropriated by the Benjamin Constant Institute and how it is present in the Pedagogical Project of the Middle Level Technical Course on Text Revision in the Braille System, exclusively for people with disabilities. visual impairment. The project was analyzed in its content as proposed by Lawrence Bardin and the results indicated that the term Assistive Technology, as coined by the Technical Assistance Committee, because it is too broad, emphasizes the term “resource”, directly associated with “technologies”, promoting the exclusion of the other terms that make up the concept, fundamental for the teaching and learning process of the visually impaired person and essential for the promotion of their functionality.

A partir de esta definición, este trabajo tuvo como objetivo investigar cómo el concepto de Tecnología de Apoyo fue apropiado por el Instituto Benjamin Constant y cómo está presente en el Proyecto Pedagógico del Curso Técnico de Nivel Medio sobre Revisión de Textos en el Sistema Braille, exclusivamente para personas con discapacidad visual. El proyecto fue analizado en su contenido propuesto por Lawrence Bardin y los resultados indicaron que el término Tecnología de Apoyo, acuñado por el Comité de Asistencia Técnica, por ser demasiado amplio, enfatiza el término “recurso”, asociado directamente a “tecnologías”, promoviendo la exclusión de los demás términos que componen el concepto, fundamental para el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje de la persona con discapacidad visual y esencial para la promoción de su funcionalidad.  No Brasil, o termo Tecnologia Assistiva foi definido em 2006 pelo Comitê de Ajudas Técnicas. A partir desta definição, este trabalho objetivou investigar como o conceito de Tecnologia Assistiva foi apropriado pelo Instituto Benjamin Constant e como está presente no Projeto Pedagógico do Curso Técnico de Nível Médio de Revisão de Textos no Sistema Braille, exclusivo para pessoas com deficiência visual.
