Resumo: | This article derives from the results of two surveys that, in total, listened to 221 graduates of the qualification in Education for Youth and Adults from the Pedagogy course at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, through semi-structured interviews, questionnaires and discussion forums. The aim is to discuss the initial training of teachers for young people and adults from the historical reconstruction of the training of educators for Youth and Adult Education in this course. Research has shown that Youth and Adult Education still needs to gain more space in Pedagogy courses, however, this will only happen when it is more recognized in the context of public education policies. In addition, it was evident that specific training for Youth and Adult Education positively impacts the performance of teachers, but the field of work has not yet fulfilled this demand. |

El objetivo es discutir la formación inicial de docentes para jóvenes y adultos a partir de la reconstrucción histórica de la formación de educadores para la Educación de Personas Jóvenes y Adultas. La investigación ha demostrado que la Educación de Jóvenes y Adultos aún necesita ganar más espacio en los cursos de Pedagogía, sin embargo, esto solo sucederá cuando sea más reconocida en el contexto de las políticas de educación. Se evidenció que la formación específica para la Educación de Personas Jóvenes y Adultas impacta positivamente en el desempeño de los docentes, pero el campo de trabajo aún no ha satisfecho esta demanda.Este artigo deriva dos resultados de duas pesquisas que, ao todo, escutaram 221 egressas da habilitação em Educação de Jovens e Adultos do curso de Pedagogia da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas, questionários e fóruns de discussão. Objetiva-se discutir a formação inicial de professores de jovens e adultos a partir da reconstrução histórica da formação de educadores para Educação de Jovens e Adultos nesse curso. As pesquisas evidenciaram que a Educação de Jovens e Adultos ainda precisa ganhar mais espaço nos cursos de Pedagogia, entretanto, isso só vai acontecer quando for mais reconhecida no âmbito das políticas públicas de educação.
