This work results from the analysis of the context of the economic development of the city of Campina Grande - PB, produced from the broad set of official data, in homology with the research of the sentences devices of 2012 and 2013, of the County Narcotics stick in order to extract the maximum amount of information of individuals sentenced for drug trafficking. Its general objective is to analyze the regional development of the city and its connection with the violence and crimes related to drugs. Specifically, it is proposed to investigate the socio-economic development and its implications on social inequalities, poverty and violence; understand the relationship between regional development, violence and drugs; outline the legal dimension of the crimes of illicit drugs among youth in Campina Grande - PB. The survey was permeated with three times, which made possible to outline the social, sociological and legal dimensions of the drug problem. The study was divided into three parts. The first addressed the epistemic triad of development, poverty and violence, plotting the development with economic growth and the reproduction of social inequalities and poverty, allowing the configuration of a society increasingly violent and anchored in the State of anomie and the absence of social cohesion. The second showed the twining between development and drug consumption, as well as the vulnerability of young people, who in the face of numerous social pressures make the crime of smuggling something highly lucrative, creating an effectively State punitive cohesion by the law nº 11,343/2006. The third, in turn, presented the results obtained from the sentences of the years 2012 and 2013 from Narcotics Rod from Campina Grande - PB. The information was collected through a survey of qualitative and quantitative nature, which combined the collection and analysis of quantitative data with the emphasis given to the social aspects related to individuals sentenced. The final specific study made possible to recognize that the profile of individuals sentenced contemplates a small-time drug dealer poor, male, with no or low qualifications and mostly held with a number of drugs taken as small businesses, primary and that is no member of association to the traffic. Conclui-se que o encarceramento pelo proibicionismo, sob o marco da investigação, aprofunda a exclusão social da pobreza e torna os indivíduos (sejam usuários ou pequenos traficantes) invisíveis em uma sociedade que vende a imagem de indicadores sociais em ascensão plena. It is concluded that the imprisonment by the prohibition, under the framework of the research, deepens poverty social exclusion and makes individuals (users or small traffickers) invisible in a society that sells the image of social indicators in full rise.
