Resumo: | This article presents the results of a research on e-learning dynamics in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. More specifically, it is analyzed the role of e-learning in the training of teachers in Santa Catarina in the period between 1998 and 2018. In addition to the bibliographical and documentary research, it was carried out an extensive survey and analysis of microdata on face-to-face and e-learning Higher Education available in the Census of Higher Education databases of the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP). The research showed, among other results: (i) the significant increase in the number of e-learning courses, enrollments and graduates after 2012; (ii) the decrease in the number of e-learning courses and enrollments in public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs); (iii) the increasing privatization process; and (iv) the wide predominance of private HEIs in teacher training in Santa Catarina. De modo más específico, se analiza el papel de la EaD en la formación de los profesores en SC en el período entre 1998 y 2018. Además de la investigación bibliográfica y documental, se realizó un extenso levantamiento y análisis de los microdatos de la Educación Superior presencial y a distancia disponibles en las bases de datos del Censo de Educación Superior del Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP). La investigación demostró, entre otros resultados: (i) el aumento expresivo en el número de cursos, matrículas y egresados de la modalidad EaD a partir de 2012; (ii) la disminución del número de cursos a distancia y de matrículas de EaD en instituciones públicas de Educación Superior (IES) públicas; (iii) el creciente proceso de privatización; y (iv) el amplio predominio de las IES privadas en la formación docente en Santa Catarina. Palabras clave: Educación a Distancia. Formación docente. Santa Catarina.Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa sobre as dinâmicas da Educação a Distância (EaD) em Santa Catarina. De modo mais específico, analisa-se o papel da EaD na formação dos professores em Santa Catarina no período entre 1998 e 2018. Além da pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, realizou-se um extenso levantamento e análise dos microdados da Educação Superior presencial e a distância disponíveis nas bases do Censo da Educação Superior do Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (Inep).
