Resumo: | This article aims to identify if the Education Doctorade (EdD) are courses regulary offered by the main universities of the world and to analyze the trends of this type of doctorate in so-called World-Class Universities (WCU). It was identified and analyzed proposals of EdD of nineteen important WCU that stood out in three rankings. From the exploratory, analytical-descriptive research in the field of Comparative Education, there were nine major trends, emphasizing that the offer of DPE is a common practice in WCU that offer academic doctorates, mainly directed to the training of professionals for senior management positions for schools, universities, and / or governments, with EdD emerging in the field of educational leadership. Master in Education.El presente artículo tiene como objetivo identificar se los Doctorados Profesionales en Educación (DPE) son cursos comúnmente ofrecidos por las principales universidades del mundo y analizar las tendencias de ese tipo de doctorado en las llamadas universidades de clase mundial (UCM). Se identificaron y analizaron las propuestas de DPE de diecinueve importantes UCM que se destacaron en tres rankings. A partir de una investigación exploratoria, analítico-descriptiva, en el campo de la Educación Comparada, se constataron nueve grandes tendencias, destacándose que la oferta de DPE es una práctica común en las UCM que ofrecen doctorados académicos, direccionados principalmente para la formación de profesionales para altos cargos gerenciales para as escuelas, universidades e/o gobiernos, ganando destaque los DP en el campo del liderazgo educacional. Maestría Profesional en Educación.O presente artigo tem como objetivo identificar se os Doutorados Profissionais em Educação (DPE) são cursos comumente oferecidos pelas principais universidades do mundo e analisar as tendências desse tipo de doutorado nas chamadas Universidades de Classe Mundial (UCM). Em sua produção, foram identificadas e analisadas propostas de DPE de dezenove importantes UCM que se destacaram em três rankings. A partir de pesquisa exploratória, analítico-descritiva, no campo da Educação Comparada, constataram-se nove grandes tendências, destacando-se que a oferta de DPE é uma prática comum nas UCM que ofertam doutorados acadêmicos, direcionados, principalmente, para a formação de profissionais para altos cargos gerenciais para as escolas, universidades e/ ou governos, ganhando relevo os DP no campo da liderança educacional.
