Conclusion and dropout of university students in MOOC courses: analysis from the benefits perspective

Resumo: Online education has been an important modality in recent years and MOOCs are considered a viable alternative to this modality by providing benefits for those who participate in these courses. This article documents an empirical exercise with a quantitative approach developed in a Mexican public university. Whose objective was to analyze the perceptions of students regarding their learning experiences in MOOC-type courses, as well as to describe the benefits of this type of course and compare if they are the same in students who dropped out and those who concluded. The results show that taking a MOOC provides benefits, regardless of whether they complete it or not, although those who complete a MOOC indicate a greater number of benefits, compared to dropouts. The main benefits identified were: 1) learning at one's own pace, 2) availability of content continuously, and 3) the possibility of experimenting with other ways of learning. Keywords: MOOC. Los objetivos que se cubren en este estudio son: analizar las percepciones de los estudiantes respecto a sus experiencias de aprendizaje en cursos tipo MOOC, así como describir los beneficios de este tipo de cursos y comparar si son los mismos en alumnos que desertaron y los que concluyeron.
