Resumo: | This paper discusses two concepts of research used to develop policies: “policy sciences” and “evidence-based education”. To this end, the repercussion of these proposals in education in other countries and their repercussions in the Brazilian context are analyzed and considered. Furthermore, there is an attempt to emphasize the characteristics of educational research starting in Brazil from 1950 and 1990. The comparison between international and local repercussions of “policy sciences” and “evidence-based education” suggests some reflections about the production and the use of scientific knowledge that aims to contribute to the discussions about the social impact of research on education in Brazil. Evidence.Este artigo apresenta uma discussão sobre duas concepções de pesquisa orientada para a formulação de políticas: as policy sciences e a educação baseada em evidências. Consideram-se tanto as repercussões dessas propostas no campo educacional como um todo quanto suas repercussões no campo educacional brasileiro, procurando-se enfatizar as características próprias assumidas pela pesquisas educacionais que se iniciaram no Brasil nos anos 1950 e 1990. Essa comparação entre as repercussões internacionais e locais das policy sciences e da educação baseada em evidências sugere algumas reflexões sobre a produção e o uso do conhecimento científico, cujo propósito é contribuir para as discussões sobre a o impacto social do trabalho dos pesquisadores da educação no Brasil.
