Brazilian indigenous youtubers: interfaces between culture and education

Resumo: The objective is to identify the educational/cultural content broadcast on channels of Brazilian indigenous Youtubers. A virtual survey was conducted on channels of Brazilian indigenous Youtubers on the worldwide web, with the descriptors “Youtubers” and “indigenous education”. Fifteen channels were found on YouTube and produced by indigenous Youtubers. The analysis of the channels considered the contents about indigenous education and culture, as well as how this knowledge was disseminated in the virtual environment. Three thematic categories were identified: music and literature, daily, and politics. These sought to explain various forms of indigenous life, valuing their arts and cultures, demystifying prejudiced stereotypes, and strengthening the struggle for the recognition of indigenous history and rights through music, dances, handicrafts, interviews, videos, political mobilizations, etc. It was found that the channels on YouTube are essential vehicles for the propagation, valorization, and preservation of indigenous culture, including making it possible, in the educational scope, to better understand cultural diversity, strengthening a multicultural practice with more significant learning. Se realizó una investigación virtual sobre los canales de youtubers indígenas brasileños en internet, con los descriptores “youtubers” y “educación indígena”. Se encontraron 15 canales en YouTube producidos por youtubers indígenas. El análisis consideró los contenidos sobre educación y cultura indígenas, así como la forma en que este conocimiento fue difundido en el entorno virtual. Se identificaron tres categorías temáticas: música y literatura; cotidiano; y política. Estos explicaron las diferentes formas de vida indígena, valorando sus artes y culturas, desmitificando estereotipos prejuiciosos y fortaleciendo la lucha por el reconocimiento de la historia y los derechos indígenas. Se encontró que los canales en YouTube son vehículos importantes para la difusión, valorización y preservación de la cultura indígena, inclusive posibilitando, en el ámbito educativo, comprender mejor la diversidad cultural, fortaleciendo una práctica multicultural con aprendizajes más significativos. Realizou-se uma pesquisa virtual sobre canais de youtubers indígenas brasileiros na rede mundial de computadores com os descritores “youtubers” e “educação indígena”. Foram localizados 15 canais no YouTube produzidos por youtubers indígenas. A análise considerou os conteúdos acerca da educação e da cultura indígenas, bem como a maneira como esses conhecimentos eram disseminados no ambiente virtual. Identificaram-se três categorias temáticas: músicas e literatura; cotidiano; e política. Estas explicitavam as diversas formas de vida indígena, valorizando suas artes e culturas, desmistificando estereótipos preconceituosos e fortalecendo a luta pelo reconhecimento da história e dos direitos indígenas. Constatou-se que os canais no YouTube são importantes veículos para propagação, valorização e preservação da cultura indígena, inclusive possibilitando, no âmbito educativo, o melhor conhecimento da diversidade cultural, fortalecendo uma prática multicultural com aprendizagens mais significativas.
