Resumo: This paper is an overview of the Mathematics Education in Spain. It presents: a) a review of the laws which have constituted the Spanish Educational System from the democratic overture; b) groups of work, teachers’ associations, and other institutions which have conducted the current research lines in Mathematics Education and c) an analysis of the problems of Mathematics teaching in each stage of the educational system. From these issues some future research perspectives are presented.   Keywords: Mathematics education. Research in Mathematics Education. Pedagogic practice.

O artigo apresenta: a) uma revisão das leis que conformaram o sistema educacional espanhol a partir da transição democrática; b) os grupos de trabalho, associações de professores e outras instituições que dirigem as atuais linhas de pesquisa na área de Educação Matemática e c) uma análise dos problemas do ensino de matemática em cada uma das etapas do sistema educacional. A partir das questões discutidas, algumas perspectivas para futuras pesquisas são apontadas.   Palavras-chave: Educação Matemática. Pesquisa em Educação Matemática.
