Practice of urban dances in school context: memory and attention of schoolchildren aged 7 and 8 years old

Resumo: This experimental study, with quantitative focus and longitudinal cutting, aimed to verify possible changes in the memory and attention of students aged 7 and 8 years with the practice of urban dances in school. The final sample consisted of 65 students divided into an intervention and control group, submitted to two cognitive tests. In the first test, the control group reached in the pre and post-test, respectively, an average of 19.9 (Standard Deviation – SD = 1.98) and 19.2 (SD = 2.33), while the intervention group reached, respectively, 19.4 (SD = 2.47) and 21.5 (SD = 2.50) (p<0.05). In the second test, the control group increased its response time while the intervention group decreased. Significant improvements in the memory and attention of the group that received the intervention were identified and, with this, it is expected to approximate the content of the teachers, as well as to promote possible scientific advances on the subject. Memory.Este estudio, de tipo experimental con enfoque cuantitativo y corte longitudinal, tuvo como objetivo verificar posibles alteraciones en la memoria y en la atención de escolares de 7 y 8 años con la práctica de danzas urbanas en la escuela. La muestra final consistió en 65 escolares divididos en grupo intervención y control, sometidos a 2 pruebas cognitivas. En la primera prueba, el grupo control alcanzó en la pre y post-prueba, respectivamente, un promedio de 19,9 (Desviación Estándar – DE = 1,98) y 19,2 (DE = 2,33), mientras que el grupo de intervención acertó, respectivamente, 19,4 (DE = 2,47) y 21,5 (DE = 2,50) (p<0,05). En la segunda prueba, el grupo control aumentó su tiempo de respuesta mientras que el grupo de intervención disminuyó. Se identificaron mejoras relevantes en la memoria y atención del grupo que recibió la intervención y, con ello, se espera aproximar el contenido de los profesores, así como fomentar posibles avances científicos sobre el tema. A amostra final foi de 65 escolares divididos em grupo intervenção e controle, submetidos a dois testes cognitivos. No primeiro teste, o grupo controle atingiu no pré e pós-teste, respectivamente, uma média de acertos de 19,9 (Desvio Padrão – DP = 1,98) e 19,2 (DP = 2,33); já o grupo intervenção acertou, respectivamente, 19,4 (DP = 2,47) e 21,5 (DP = 2,50) (p<0,05). No segundo teste, o grupo controle aumentou seu tempo de resposta enquanto o grupo intervenção diminuiu. Identificou-se melhoras relevantes na memória e na atenção do grupo que recebeu a intervenção e, com isso, espera-se aproximar o conteúdo dos professores bem como fomentar possíveis avanços científicos sobre o tema.
