Resumo: This paper aims at analysing the conception of Otherness in Freire in order to understand the relations with childhood and the liberation from oppression. For that, we raised the following question: What contribution can Freire’s conception of the Other make to understand childhood and liberation? The text follows a qualitative bibliographic methodology, whose contribution is the philosophical analysis, as part of our Master’s research project which has as its investigative focus the question of Other and humanizing education. As a theoretical framework, the works of Freire: Pedagogy of the Oppressed (1987); Pedagogia da Autonomia: saberes necessários à prática educative - Pedagogy of Autonomy: necessary knowledge for educational practice (2011) are used. In Freire’s proposal, childhood is a free and active subject of the educational process, which problematizes, dialogues and awakens adults from their domination and oppression. In addition, it generates the democratic process of world transformation. Keywords: Otherness. Childhood. Liberation.

Liberation.El presente artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la concepción de Otro en Freire para comprender las relaciones con la infancia y con la liberación de la opresión. Para ello, planteamos la siguiente pregunta: ¿qué contribución a la concepción de Freire acerca del otro puede servir para comprender la infancia y la liberación?  El texto sigue una metodología bibliográfica de carácter cualitativo, cuyo aporte es el análisis filosófico, como parte de nuestro proyecto de investigación de Maestría que tiene como foco de investigación la cuestión del Otro y la educación humanizadora. Como referencia teórica básica son utilizadas las obras de Freire: Pedagogía del Oprimido (1987); Pedagogía de la Autonomía: saberes necesarios para la práctica educativa (2011). En la propuesta de Freire, la infancia es un sujeto libre y activo del proceso educativo, que problematiza, dialoga y despierta a los adultos de su dominación y opresión. Además de eso, genera el proceso democrático de transformación del mundo. Palabras clave: Otro. Infancia. Liberación.Este artigo objetiva analisar a concepção de Outro em Freire para compreender as relações com a infância e com a libertação da opressão. Para isso, levantamos a seguinte questão: que contribuição a concepção de Freire acerca do outro pode dar para compreender a infância e a libertação?  O texto segue uma metodologia bibliográfica de caráter qualitativo, cujo aporte é a análise filosófica, como parte de nosso projeto de pesquisa de Mestrado que tem por foco investigativo a questão de Outro e a educação humanizadora. Como referencial teórico base, são utilizadas as obras de Freire: Pedagogia do Oprimido (1987); Pedagogia da Autonomia: saberes necessários à prática educativa (2011). Na proposta de Freire, a infância é um sujeito livre e ativo do processo educativo, que problematiza, dialoga e desperta os adultos de sua dominação e opressão, e gera o processo democrático de transformação do mundo.
