History of Distance Education in Mozambique: current perspectives and contributions from Brazil

Resumo: The objective of this paper is to discuss the conditions under which the development of Distance Education in Mozambique and the role of Brazil as a partner of public policies for the modality in the country. The methodology adopted was the bibliographic and documentary research and Distance Education in Mozambique and Brazil. However, it is perceived that the country’s challenge is immense, since, due to its recent past of colonization and civil war, it has been unable to develop from an educational point of view and it is in a situation where the lack of access to Basic and Higher Education promotes a resurgence of national inequality. Thus, it is observed that there is still much to be done so that the education of the country has a greater population reach, but the Distance Education can emerge as a way to promote a rapid and necessary recovery in the face of the historical problems suffered by the population and that currently reverberate in poverty and inequality.   Keywords: Mozambique. La metodología adoptada fue la investigación bibliográfica y documental y Educación a Distancia en Mozambique y Brasil. Se percibe, sin embargo, que el desafío del país es inmenso, ya que, debido a su pasado reciente de colonización y de guerra civil, no pudo desarrollarse desde el punto de vista educativo y se encuentra en una situación en la cual la falta de acceso a la educación básica y superior promueve un recrudecimiento de la desigualdad nacional. Así, se observa que aún queda mucho por construir para que la educación del país tenga un mayor alcance poblacional, pero la EaD puede surgir como camino para promover una recuperación rápida y necesaria frente a las heridas históricas sufridas por la población y que reverberan actualmente en pobreza y desigualdad.   Palabras clave: Mozambique. Cooperación internacional.O objetivo deste artigo é discutir as condições nas quais se encontra o desenvolvimento da Educação a Distância em Moçambique e o papel do Brasil como parceiro de políticas públicas para a modalidade no país. A metodologia adotada foi a pesquisa bibliográfica e documental e a Educação a Distância em Moçambique e no Brasil. Percebe-se, entretanto, que o desafio do país é imenso, uma vez que, devido ao seu passado recente de colonização e de Guerra Civil, acabou por não conseguir desenvolver-se do ponto de vista educacional e encontra-se em uma situação na qual a falta de acesso à Educação Básica e ao Ensino Superior promove um recrudescimento da desigualdade nacional. Assim, observa-se que há muito ainda a construir para que a educação do país tenha um maior alcance populacional, mas a EaD pode despontar como caminho para promover uma recuperação rápida e necessária frente às mazelas históricas sofridas pela população e que reverberam, atualmente, em pobreza e desigualdade.   Palavras-chave: Moçambique.
