Resumo: | This article aims to present a methodology for the Education scientific journals evaluation in Brazil. It is an initial effort to discuss important aspects for such evaluation and to contribute with the debate in the process of criteria elaboration for the CAPES Qualis Journals. The proposal presented here, to create an index, highlights four central elements for the evaluation: Periodicity, Internationalization, Origin and Geographic Distribution of Authors, and Impact Factor, looking for give conditions to evaluate, quantify, classify and rank the journals considering how current, representative, international and read / quoted they are. Se trata de un esfuerzo inicial en la dirección de discutir aspectos importantes para dicha evaluación y contribuir con el debate en el proceso de elaboración de criterios para el Qualis Periódicos del área en la CAPES. La propuesta aquí dibujada, de creación de un indicador, destaca cuatro elementos centrales para la evaluación: Periodicidad/Actualización, Internacionalización, Origen y Distribución Geográfica de los Autores y Factor de Impacto, con vistas a que podamos evaluar, cuantificar, ranquear y estratificar los periódicos considerando cuán actuales, representativos, internacionales y leídos/citados son. Palabras clave: Periódicos. Educación. Qualis. Evaluación.Este artigo tem por objetivo apresentar uma metodologia para avaliação dos periódicos científicos na área da Educação no Brasil. Trata-se de um esforço inicial na direção de discutir aspectos importantes para tal avaliação e contribuir com o debate no processo de elaboração de critérios para o Qualis Periódicos da área na CAPES. A proposta aqui desenhada, de construção de um indicador, destaca quatro elementos centrais para a avaliação: Periodicidade/Atualização, Internacionalização, Origem e Distribuição Geográfica dos Autores e Fator de Impacto, com vistas a que possamos avaliar, quantificar, ranquear e estratificar os periódicos considerando quão atuais, representativos, internacionais e lidos/citados são.
