Female participation in the dispute for the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies: a comparative perspective

Resumo: This article seeks to investigate to what extent there is a change in the political participation of women in disputes for the position of federal deputy in Brazil. Its main objective is to identify changes, trends, and stagnation points in this process. For that, was used information regarding the profiles of competing and elected groups from three elections (2010, 2014, and 2018). This data, provided by the Superior Electoral Court, was processed using descriptive statistical techniques. The analysis showed that despite some changes, such as the increase in the number of elected female federal deputies, women still prevail among disqualified candidacies and the profile of the elected group suffered little or almost no change from one election to another.

Su objetivo principal es identificar cambios, tendencias y puntos de estancamiento en este proceso. Para ello, se utilizó información referente a los perfiles de los grupos competidores y electos de tres elecciones (2010, 2014 y 2018). Estos datos, proporcionados por el Tribunal Superior Electoral, fueron trabajados mediante técnicas de estadísticas descriptivas. El análisis mostró que, a pesar de algunos cambios, como el aumento en el número de diputadas federales electas, las mujeres aún prevalecen entre las candidaturas inaptas y el perfil del grupo electo sufrió pocos o casi ningún cambio de una elección a otra.Este artigo busca averiguar em que medida se observa uma alteração na participação política das mulheres nas disputas ao cargo de deputada federal no Brasil. Seu objetivo principal é identificar mudanças, tendências e pontos de estagnação nesse processo. Para isso, foi feito o uso de informações referentes aos perfis dos grupos competidores e eleitos de três pleitos (2010, 2014 e 2018). Esses dados, disponibilizados pelo Tribunal Superior Eleitoral, foram trabalhados por meio de técnicas de estatísticas descritivas.
