Popular reference strategies in the municipal elections of Ponta Grossa/PR in 2020: a debate of political folkcommunication in the local context

Resumo: By focusing on the strategies of appropriation of popular culture in campaigns for councilors in Ponta Grossa/PR in 2020, this article proposes an analysis of the ways in which candidates are nominated, based on political folkcommunication. From a survey of the Tribunal Regional Eleitoral database, aspects such as belonging to the place (neighborhood, region or community), identification with a particular job category, the use of nicknames, among other resources that allow observing various elements of popular and media culture present in the electoral dispute. Finally, it appears that the use of references from popular culture, although it does not guarantee success in the electoral process, acts in the projection of the public figure of candidates, establishing relationships of proximity with the place and appeal to the electorate.

A partir de una consulta en la base de datos del Tribunal Regional Electoral, aspectos como la pertenencia al lugar (barrio, región o comunidad), la identificación con una determinada categoría laboral, el uso de apodos, entre otros recursos que permiten observar diversos elementos de la cultura popular y mediática presentes en la disputa electoral. Finalmente, parece que el uso de referentes de la cultura popular, si bien no garantiza el éxito en el proceso electoral, actúa en la proyección de la figura pública de los candidatos, estableciendo relaciones de proximidad con el lugar y atractivo para el electoradoAo enfocar as estratégias de apropriação da cultura popular nas campanhas para a Câmara de Vereadores em Ponta Grossa/PR em 2020, o presente artigo propõe uma análise das formas de nomeação das candidaturas, sustentada na folkcomunicação política. A partir de um levantamento junto à base de dados do Tribunal Regional Eleitoral, são identificados aspectos como o pertencimento ao local (bairro, região ou comunidade), a identificação com determinada categoria de trabalho, o uso de apelidos, entre outros recursos que permitem observar diversos elementos da cultura popular e midiática presentes na disputa eleitoral.
