Resumo: | The Popular Education movements from 1960 to 1964 were highlighted in Brazil through Paulo Freire, based on an education of mass awareness through dialogue. With the Political Opening, the possibilities of building a school adjusted to Paulo Freire's ideals emerged, aiming at its democratization. The objectives of this article are to punctuate Freire's legacy for education in Brazil and to analyze the realization of his ideas for an egalitarian and emancipatory public education. The methodology used is the bibliographic research, qualitative approach and the discursive and dialectical process through content analysis. We bring important considerations and reflections that Brazilian educators need to internalize Paulo Freire's ideas, concretizing them through action-research in the classroom. |

Con la Apertura Política, surgieron las posibilidades de construir una escuela ajustada a los ideales de Paulo Freire, apuntando a su democratización. Los objetivos de este artículo son puntualizar el legado de Freire para la educación en Brasil y analizar la realización de sus ideas para una educación pública igualitaria y emancipadora. La metodología utilizada es la investigación bibliográfica, el enfoque cualitativo y el proceso discursivo y dialéctico a través del análisis de contenido. Aportamos importantes consideraciones y reflexiones que los educadores brasileños necesitan para interiorizar las ideas de Paulo Freire, concretándolas a través de la investigación de acción en el aula.Os movimentos de Educação Popular de 1960 a 1964 foram destaque no Brasil através de Paulo Freire, pautados em uma educação de conscientização das massas, através do diálogo. Com a Abertura Política, fizeram surgir as possibilidades da construção da escola ajustada nos ideais de Paulo Freire, visando a sua democratização. Os objetivos deste artigo são pontuar o legado de Freire para a educação no Brasil e analisar a efetivação de suas ideias para uma educação pública igualitária e emancipadora. A metodologia utilizada é a pesquisa bibliográfica, abordagem qualitativa e o processo discursivo e dialético através da análise de conteúdo.
