AVALIAÇÃO DE DOIS SISTEMAS ADESIVOS SIMPLIFICADOS EM LESÕES CERVICAIS NÃO CARIOSAS: UM ENSAIO CLÍNICO RANDOMIZADO

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the retention rates of two simplified adhesive systems (Ambar [AM] and 2 Adper Single Bond [SB]) in non-carious cervical lesions for 12 months. We selected 35 patients with two similar cervical lesions, with at least 50% of margins without enamel. A total of 70 restorations were placed with rubber dam isolation following the manufacturers´directions. The restorations were evaluated in three distinct periods: baseline - after 1 week, 6 and 12 months according to the criteria of Hickel et al. (2007) by two calibrated examiners. The inter examiner agreement was evaluated by the Cohen's Kappa test. Differences in each criterion for the two materials were evaluated by the to Fisher's exact test (=0.05). The performance of each adhesive system at different periods was assessed by the McNemar test (=0.05). All patients attended the recalls. After 6 months, only 2 restorations (one of each adhesive system) were lost (p>0.05) and 12 (5 [AM] and 7 [SB]) (p>0.05) required a new polishing. After 12 months, only three restorations were lost (2 [AM] and 1 [SB]) and four restorations (2 [AM] and 2 [SB]) needed repolishing. The retention rates at 97.1% for [SB] and 94.3% for [AM]. As the choice of an adhesive system should be based on its clinical performance, it was concluded that the new adhesive system evaluated achieved a high retention rate after 12 months, and may be comparable to international gold standard adhesive.
