Resumo: Buckwheat is a rustic annual herbaceous plant, with a short cycle, which produces grains, being used as a cover crop in several regions of the country, in crop rotation, helping to reduce the population of nematodes and also to improve the characteristics of the soil. only. In the northwest region of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), the use of this crop has been growing every year, however there is still a lack of information on the characteristics of the crop's development, sowing densities and adequate times. Thus, the objective of this work was to present characteristics of crop development, to analyze the productivity and weight of a thousand grains of wheat sown in two times and five different densities in the municipality of Santo Augusto, Rio Grande do Sul. The results indicated that the crop presents characteristics of development with a rustic structure and a long period of flowering, and the first sowing season presented better productivity indexes and, the density of 120 Kg of seeds per hectare, was the one that evolved in greater production. Therefore, earlier sowing with higher seed density increases the grain yield potential of the crop, developing it to be started with the predecessor crop.

Así, el objetivo de este trabajo fue presentar características de desarrollo del cultivo, analizar la productividad y el peso de mil granos de trigo sembrados en dos tiempos y cinco densidades diferentes en el municipio de Santo Augusto, Rio Grande do Sul. Los resultados indicaron que el cultivo presenta características de desarrollo con estructura rústica y largo período de floración, y la primera siembra presentó mejores índices de productividad y, la densidad de 120 Kg de semillas por hectárea, fue la que evolucionó en mayor producción. Por lo tanto, la siembra más temprana con mayor densidad de semillas aumenta el potencial de rendimiento de grano del cultivo, desarrollándolo para iniciarse con el cultivo antecesor.O trigo mourisco é uma planta herbácea anual rústica, de ciclo curto, que produz grãos, sendo utilizada como cultura de cobertura em diversas regiões do país, em como rotação de culturas, auxiliando na redução de população de nematóides e também na melhoria das características do solo. Na região noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul (RS) a utilização desta cultura vem crescendo a cada ano; entretanto, ainda existe carência de informações sobre características de desenvolvimento da cultura, densidades de semeadura e épocas adequadas. Assim, o objetivo no trabalho foi apresentar características de desenvolvimento da cultura, analisar a produtividade e peso de mil grãos de grãos, do trigo mourisco semeado em duas épocas e cinco densidades diferentes no município de Santo Augusto, Rio Grande do Sul. Os resultados indicaram que a cultura apresenta boas características de desenvolvimento com estrutura rústica e longo período de florescimento, sendo que a primeira época de semeadura apresentou melhores índices de produtividade e a densidade de 120 Kg de sementes por hectare foi a que resultou em maior produtividade.
