The present article addresses the creation of the figure entitled “the good informant”, narrating its historical origin and the contours it acquired when being positivized in the Brazilian order through the anti-crime law, emphasizing, finally, that it is a tool capable of empowering citizens in the struggle for a better Brazil. The present article, developed within a context of crisis in criminal procedure and the need to combat corruption, addresses the creation of the figure entitled "the good informant" and aims to demonstrate how this can constitute a legal tool capable of empowering citizens in the struggle for a better Brazil. In this vein, it starts from its historical origin, passing through its creation in other countries and the results obtained, to, finally, analyze the contours that whistleblowing acquired when it was instituted in the Brazilian legal system, through the anti-crime law, concluding that, despite the need for improvements, its regulation and social dissemination can effectively contribute to better results in the procedural field and, as a consequence, to a truly positive cultural transformation.
