Resumo: | Between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Rio de Janeiro experienced an intensification of the internal and external migratory flow, Jews from the most varied origins arrived and settled in the city, starting the process of organizing this nucleus. This article does not, and could not, claim to exhaust the history of Jewish immigration; the objective is, rather, to be a starting point for those who would like to know a little more about the context that contributed to Jewish immigrants to settle in the city of Rio de Janeiro and start organizing the community life of the one that would come to in the 1920 and 1930 to be the largest jewish community in Brazil. |
