To investigate the relationships between perceptions of fear and social phobia of basketball athletes working in high-performance leagues of the sport in Brazil with their levels of resilience and personality traits. METHODS: A systematic review was carried out according to the PRISMA approach in order to identify the effects of the Pandemic on the psychological and behavioral dimensions of performance athletes. For the cross-sectional study, the sample was composed of high-performance basketball athletes aged 18 or over, who play in the NBB or LSB league. The Covid-19 Fear Scale (EMC-19), Social Anxiety Severity Scale and the Big Five Personality Factors Inventory (IGFP-5) were applied through the Google forms tool. The link with the questionnaires was sent to athletes through the WhatsApp app. EXPECTED RESULTS: Athletes with more time of practice and schooling had lower fear and social phobia scores compared to less educated and experienced athletes. Athletes in which the conscientiousness personality factor was dominant showed lower fear and social phobia scores. CONCLUSION: The present study brought relevant information about the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the psychological and behavioral aspects of athletes. The influences of age, gender, type of modality and quality of the proposed training programs on the behavioral and psychic reactions of performance athletes were observed. Resilience, emotional intelligence and social support were shown to mitigate the symptoms of depression, anxiety, fear, bad mood, insomnia, eating disorders, lack of optimism and lack of motivation to train. As for the article with empirical data, the results found made it possible to identify a positive correlation between conscientiousness and fear of contracting Covid-19. A positive correlation was also detected between the fear of contracting Covid-19 and social anxiety. There was also a positive correlation between extroversion and both social anxiety and fear of Covid-19. It is suggested for future studies the elaboration of longitudinal researches that take into account female athletes.
