Resumo: | This research aimed to investigate how youth collectives have produced social engagement of young people from the popular strata in occupations of public spaces in the west and north zones of Rio de Janeiro. To map these ways of social engagement in the city, I followed several actions at the Sarau do Calango, the Viaduto de Realengo, at the Bangu Music and Culture Festival and at the Ethiopian Lion of Méier and which, different from the usual mainstream circuits of arts, in the south zone and the city center, they have developed, in recent years, systematic interventions in the neighborhoods where they work, enabling the youth to have preserved spaces to show their stories, their poetry and memories. The research concluded that the intense exchange of knowledge and practices carried out by these collectives has been weaving powerful educational networks that support and feed these groups, expanding their support and learning networks. In addition, it became evident that when they have their bodies to intervene, occupy and modify public spaces, they are also promoting their own policy in the neighborhoods in which they live and operate, which I called throughout the research of art-politics. The study is of a qualitative nature and is based on the concept of the city of Harvey (2014, 2013), in the debates about research in Human and Social Sciences with Oswald (2014), Pereira (2012) and Amorim (2001), in the discussions about youths and collectives with Pais (2005, 2003), Carrano (2012, 2006) and Sposito (2020; 2010), as well as in studies on Castells networks (2017) among other references of studies on the city, art, politics and education . Unclassifiable youths show themselves in the midst of fragmentary and hybrid differences through art-politics in the streets, producing and reinventing their ways of social participation in the city, despite the overwhelming conditions of the State and the scarcity of public policies that dialogue with their desires. More than an artistic movement, these arts-politics act in the gaps of the public power, weaving new educational networks of knowledge, practices and sharing their needs and interests in life. |

More than an artistic movement, these arts-politics act in the gaps of the public power, weaving new educational networks of knowledge, practices and sharing their needs and interests in life. Submitted by Mariangela CEH/A (marianfig.uerj@gmail.com) on 2022-10-21T16:32:08Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Tese - Roberta de Jesus Fernandes Gonçalves de Souza - 2020 - Completa.pdf: 4967116 bytes, checksum: d64490b9fb69dc35cced04e4c8a8cabd (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2022-10-21T16:32:08Z (GMT).
