Resumo: | Failures caused by liquefaction have been showing catastrophic consequences all around the world, such failures are more common in mining sector, for instance, in tailings dams, which is why the phenomenon has been widely studied. This rupture is characterized by an abrupt loss of undrained strength, observed after peak. There are several prerequisites for a given soil to be susceptible to liquefaction, among which the following stand out: grain size curve, relative density, saturation, etc. In cases where the phenomenon has been reported, the soil undergoes a change in physical state, starting to behave like a liquid. However, there is some ambiguity in the definition of liquefaction. For some authors liquefaction is characterized by the strain softening process of the soil, that is, by the fragile rupture that the soil presents, while other authors treat as liquefaction materials that presented their shear strength equal to zero, which is observed through stress path that lead to the place where p and q are equal to zero, denominating this as true liquefaction. The present research shows a series of results from undrained triaxial tests on uniform sand with round grains from Rio de Janeiro. Several methodologies for molding specimens of triaxial tests were also studied. In addition was determined the critical state line and the flow liquefaction line. The stress paths obtained from various results of undrained triaxial tests show a tendency of true liquefaction, as observed by tests done on waste from the Stava mine - Italy, despite some trajectories not reaching the origin of their respective axes. However, was observed that the flow liquefaction line was not unique. |

However, was observed that the flow liquefaction line was not unique.Rupturas causadas por liquefação apresentam consequências catastróficas por todo mundo, tais rupturas são mais presentes no setor de mineração, nas barragens de rejeito, motivo pelo qual o fenômeno vem sendo amplamente estudado. Essa ruptura caracterizada por perda abrupta de resistência não drenada, observada após pico. Vários são os pré-requisitos para que um determinado solo seja caracterizado com potencial elevado de liquefação, entre eles destacam-se: curva granulométrica específica, baixa densidade relativa, grau de saturação elevado, etc. Nos casos onde foram relatados a ocorrência do citado fenômeno, o solo passa por uma mudança de estado físico, passando a se comportar como um líquido. Contudo, existe certa ambiguidade na definição de liquefação. Para alguns autores a liquefação se caracteriza pelo processo de amolecimento (strain softening) do solo, ou seja, pela ruptura frágil que o solo apresenta, enquanto que outros autores tratam como liquefação materiais que têm sua resistência ao cisalhamento igualadas a zero, sendo essa observada por meio de trajetórias de tensão que se encaminham para o local onde p e q são iguais a zero, denominando esta de liquefação verdadeira. A presente pesquisa apresenta uma série de resultados de ensaios triaxiais não drenados em uma areia uniforme e com grãos arredondados do Rio de Janeiro. Foram estudas também diversas metodologias de moldagem de corpos de prova de ensaios triaxiais, além da determinação da linha de estado crítico e da linha de ruptura por liquefação (flow liquefaction line). As trajetórias de tensões obtidas de vários resultados de ensaios triaxiais não drenados apresentam tendência de liquefação verdadeira, como o observado em rejeitos oriundos da mina de Stava – Itália, apesar de algumas trajetórias não atingirem a origem de seus respectivos eixos.
